A message will be sent out for when orders can be placed. This will always be a week before month end. This allows us time to gather all orders, process them and workout a delivery route so that you can receive your order of chicken by the end of that month

Our chickens are fed a free-range diet which does not contain any antibiotics, hormones or boosters or any kind. Our birds are not injected or brined. Our birds are not caged, they have a comfortable, spacious environment that includes a huge free-range camp for daily chicken activities. At night they sleep in warm, safe barns without more than the recommended space.

We make every effort to better the model of free-range poultry farming, we grow a portion of our own chicken food such as veggies, which is a more natural addition to a chickens diet. We keep our free-range camps green and attractive to our chickens which encourages them to stay outside during the day and live a more normal chicken life. We employ our sheep dogs as security guards for our chickens. These dogs are trained to chase away any predators and wild birds including hawks, who can swoop up a chicken when they are still young

Our chickens are grown in batches; each batch is ready close to month end. If you place your order before the cut-off, your chicken will arrive before the last day of that month. Delivery date and estimated time will be messaged to you in advance

Not at the moment but we are working on acquiring egg laying chickens, these are a different breed to our chickens

Currently we are supplying 7 premium butcheries and delis in cape town. We have a number of fine dining restaurants who put our chickens on their winter menu. Most of our business comes from individuals and families who want their monthly supply of free-range chicken to be delivered to their door

Our farm is situated in a little town called Hopefield, 130kms from cape town. The climate is warmer here, making it good for rearing chickens

Most payments are done via EFT. Once you have paid for your order, send the POP with your order number as a reference. We also accept COD and have a Yoco machine with us on delivery.

For month end orders, we currently charge R40 per household. More than one person can choose to collect their order from the same location, in which case you will save on delivery fee

We call this a special request order. Contact us directly if you are a business or require a weekly supply of chicken. In which case we make provisions to try and process your request. Business deliveries are subject to as much as R150 delivery fee depending on your area. Please note that we cannot always process a request if it is short notice. It is our chickens that decide when they are ready

Delivery

No – delivery is always free. All you need to do is meet our minimum spend. If you are buying any of our set boxes (fruit and veg, meat or recipe boxes), then there is no minimum spend. If you prefer to build your own box, there’s a minimum spend of just $15 (without meat). To build your own meat box, the minimum meat order is $15; once your meat order reaches $15, you can add any number of non-meat items.
At the bottom of the ‘Next delivery’ section you will see a link to ‘Pause deliveries’. Simply choose the dates you want to start and finish the pause. We’ll email you five days before your orders are due to restart. If you want to change or stop a pause that you have set for your next delivery, just select ‘Unpause now’. If the pause is scheduled to start on a future date, select ‘Edit pause’ at the bottom of your ‘Next delivery’ list.
If you’re moving house, you can change your delivery address from Your Account, under ‘Delivery details’. The option won’t be available if you have debt or credit on your account, a delivery on its way, or a pause on your orders. We may also pause this option at times when we’re coordinating high numbers of deliveries, such as Christmas. In these cases, ‘Your Account’ will direct you to send us a message on Live Chat.

We deliver from quite early in the morning up until dinner time on your delivery day. To minimise food miles, our local veg teams (we never use couriers) deliver to everyone in an area on a set day once a week, calculating their routes to maximise efficiency. Delivery is often at a similar time each week – traffic and weather permitting! You don’t need to be at home – more than 70% of our customers are out when we deliver. Our driver will knock on your door to let you know you delivery has arrived (if it’s after 8am); please let us know in your delivery instructions if you’d rather we didn’t knock. You can also use the delivery instructions to let your driver know where to leave your box if you’re not in. We’re used to all sorts of requests. This could be anything from leaving your box with a neighbour or in a shed/garage, to tucking it under a hedge, behind a dustbin or under upturned recycling boxes.

We very rarely miss a delivery, so don’t panic if it’s a bit later than usual. If it’s very late, get in touch via Live Chat on our website or call us at the farm on +1 01837 871400 and we’ll find out what has happened.
